About Us

Since 1996. See you at The Station!

Welcome to Coalfield Station Antiques

At Coalfield Station Antiques, we believe every item has a story—and discovering it should be part of the fun. Nestled in the heart of Midlothian, VA, our shop offers a warm, welcoming experience for anyone who loves vintage character, unique décor or simply browsing through pieces that spark delight and curiosity. What began its life as a historic railroad depot near the local coalfields has evolved into a lively gathering place where history, craftsmanship and community come together under one roof.

Beyond antiques, we’re proud to highlight the creativity of local artisans whose handmade jewelry, artwork and décor bring a fresh, modern touch to our historic space. We also host occasional events that bring collectors, makers and neighbors together. Whether you’re a seasoned treasure hunter or simple love exploring something different, we invite you to stop by and experience the charm for yourself.

The 11,000 square foot Coalfield Station Antiques mall has operated in the same location since 1996.

Meet the Owners
Melissa and Ronald “Butch” Atkinson

Coalfield Station Antiques is proudly owned by Melissa and Butch Atkinson—longtime Chesterfield County educators who brought their love of history, learning and community into a new chapter of life. Both grew up with parents who were passionate about antiques, so an appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia was woven into their lives from the very beginning.

Over the years, Melissa and Butch built their own collection together, filling their home with meaningful pieces that carried stories of the past. When their parents passed, the couple inherited antiques that were even more special than the ones they had gathered themselves. This inspired them to rent vendor booths at the antique mall long before they ever imagined owning it. As they spent time in the shop, they formed a friendship with the owner, and when he shared his plans to retire, Melissa and Butch saw an opportunity to preserve a place they already cherished.

In 2022, they become the third owners of Coalfield Station Antiques, continuing its tradition as a warm, community-oriented destination for vintage lovers. Today, they’re committed to honoring the mall’s history while creating an inviting space where everyone can experience the joy of discovering something truly unique.
